Con Woman

Boldly go where no man has gone before.

Well, first off, I’m a woman; secondly, plenty of people — both male and female — have gone where I’m going. But one thing is for certain: I’m about to boldly go where I’ve never been before.

I’ve decided to attending not one, but two blogging conferences this year!! I can’t begin to describe how excited (and nervous!) I am about doing these. I’m hoping to learn a lot (because I know I’m definitely still a beginner when it comes to all of this blogging stuff), make some new friends, and maybe even pick up some new books or products to review! So where am I headed?

In May, I’ll be attending the Book Expo America (BEA) Bloggers Conference in New York City!

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to attend BEA, as both a blogger and a reader! I’m looking forward to learning more about the ins and outs of book blogging and meeting others in person who do what I do! I’m also looking forward to meeting new authors and PR reps — because who can’t use some new friends? — and picking up some new books for myself and for Joshua to read. Aside from the first-day conference, I’m most looking forward to the Power Reader Day on Saturday, May 31; it’s open to the public (as long as you purchase a ticket), and you’re advised to bring a backpack to carry any free books you pick up, which many authors will be available to autograph!! If anyone is interested in attending BEA, whether as a blogger or a reader, you can find more information here. If you decide to go, let me know. I’d love to meet up with you!!

And then in September I’ll be driving out to BloggyCon at Cedar Point!

The Hubby and I have been to Cedar Point once before, but it was four or five years ago…so it was just us and our friends in Ohio at that point in time. Now, we have Joshua and our Ohio friends have three kids of their own, so it’s a whole new ballgame. Somehow, Kim and Andy have agreed to make room for the three of us for the weekend of the conference, and for that I will forever be grateful! This conference is more of a general blogging conference, whereas BEA is very much a niche event for book bloggers. While I’m attending sessions, Hubs and Joshua will be inside Cedar Point with Kim, Andy, and their littles; hopefully, the sessions will finish early enough that I can join my family and friends in the park for a few hours. As for the conference itself, I’m really excited about putting faces to names with some of the bloggers I’ve already gotten familiar with on Facebook and Twitter; I’m hoping to really delve into blogging topics that I know very little, if anything, about; and I’m ready to discover some new products and services and maybe pick up a few blogging opportunities! If you’re going to Cedar Point, give me a shout-out in the comments so we can get to know each other before we meet in Ohio!

These are going to be great learning experiences, and I’m stoked to be able to have the support of my family and friends as I continue my blogging journey! I’m a Con Woman, and I’m ready to run!

  • Lucky you! Going to BEA! I would love to do that someday. And I hadn’t heard of the Cedar Point conference before – sounds like a lot of fun.

Nice to “meet” you – I can’t wait to hear about both conferences and liver vicariously through you!

Hi Sue! Nice to meet you! I’m sure I’ll have a ton of pictures (and hopefully a ton of books) to share after BEA!! I’ve gone ahead and liked your Facebook page from both accounts (personal and Read-at-Home Mama), and I’m looking forward to reading your blog! Book people stick together! πŸ™‚

Thank you! I can’t wait to go to BEA….it’s my first time! I can’t wait to share my rookie experience with everyone once it’s over in June! Nice to meet you too πŸ™‚

  • I’m so jealous you are going to BEA!!! It’s one of my 50 Bookish Things to Do Before I Die bucket list items. Cedar Point looks like a blast too, I grew up in Ohio but know it’s changed a lot since then. I haven’t been to a blog conference before but would love to go. I look forward to hearing about what books you get and people you meet at BEA!

Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday and hope you link up 3 more posts next week!
