So what’s it about?
Time Together: Me and Dad focuses on exactly that: all the ways that young children spend time with their fathers. The beautiful illustrations depict scenes from daily family life; each image is printed with a sweet little caption. For example, a father and son are shown playing piano together, with their dog watching from the floor, and the caption reads, “favorite song time”. There are many more wonderful examples as you continue through the book!
What did we think of the book?
I have to say that, when I read this book with Joshua, it initially felt wrong. I’m Mama, not Daddy! This book isn’t about my time with Joshua, it’s about Daddy’s time with him! I wanted to make the best of it, though, so we talked about how Joshua and The Hubby would do each activity. We also found some fun new ideas for the two of them to do together (I, for one, would love to see the two of them having a “fancy tea party time” or “cookie baking time”)! The book ultimately serves as a reminder that it’s more important to focus on the small things and the daily little moments with your children than to dedicate all of your attention to the big picture.
Would we add it to Joshua’s bookshelf?
Absolutely! But I think from here on out, it’s a book for The Hubby to read with Joshua. It’s about their Time Together, after all!
There is also a companion book called Time Together: Me and Mom, which you can purchase here.
